LLN Conducted Training on Penal-Free Teaching Methods for Teachers
On July 4th and 5th, 2025, Legal Literacy - Nepal (LLN) organized a two-day residential training at the Social Work Institute (SWI) in Nakhu, Lalitpur. Eighteen teachers from nine community schools in Tokha Municipality participated in this program, which centered on “Penal-free Teaching Methods.”
The training aimed to strengthen teacher-student relationships by encouraging non-violent discipline practices and creating a more caring and inclusive classroom environment. Participants explored a variety of topics, including effective parenting strategies, ways to build deeper connections with students, and techniques to inspire and guide children with understanding and empathy.
Teachers were also trained to identify and respond to underlying issues—such as physical, mental, or family challenges—that may influence student behavior. Additionally, the sessions offered practical guidance on alternative methods of teaching, connection with students, nurturing students’ emotional well-being etc.
Through these approaches, educators are better equipped to create positive, supportive learning spaces where students can grow both academically and emotionally.
