Child Protection Awareness Program Conducted at National Peace Secondary Boarding School, Tokha
On 17 March 2026 [2082/12/03], a child protection awareness program was successfully organized by the Tokha Nagar Baal Sanjal with support from Legal Literacy Nepal at National Peace Secondary Boarding School. A total of 49 students (20 boys and 29 girls) participated in the session, which aimed to educate children about their rights, duties, and the four fundamental pillars of child rights. The program was led by team leader Sajana Khatri, with facilitation by Samreena Manandhar and Prabin Shrestha, and observation by LLN intern Yubraj Magar.
The program began at 1:30 PM following preparatory discussions among the team to ensure a child-friendly and engaging environment. The first session introduced key concepts such as who is considered a child, relevant legal provisions, and the principles of child rights. The second session focused on child protection, including discussions on rights and responsibilities, and important topics such as good touch, bad touch, and confusing touch, supported by an educational video. The sessions were highly interactive, with enthusiastic participation from students throughout.
The program achieved its objective of raising awareness among children about their rights, safety, and relevant laws. It also created a safe space for students to express themselves and engage in meaningful discussions. The initiative was well received, with active participation indicating its effectiveness. Similar programs are recommended in the future to continue strengthening child protection awareness at the community level.
