Awareness Sessions Led by ToT Participants
Following a three-day Training of Trainers (ToT) program organized by Legal Literacy Nepal from 30 January to 1 February 2026, 19 members of the Tokha Municipality Children’s Network were equipped to deliver awareness sessions for students based on the knowledge gained during the training.
Upon completion of the ToT, participants were organized into six teams of three members each and mobilized to conduct school-based awareness sessions. In total, five sessions were successfully carried out across five different schools.
The sessions focused on key issues such as child rights and protection, children’s wishes and needs, corporal punishment, harassment, and appropriate and inappropriate touch. Altogether, 459 students (205 boys and 254 girls) from 3 institutional schools and 2 community schools participated in these sessions.
Students were actively engaged and showed strong interest in the discussions. Many shared that the sessions were insightful and beneficial, helping them better understand their rights and ways to stay safe from harm. The participants expressed appreciation for the opportunity to learn about these important topics.
Overall, the peer-led awareness sessions proved effective in promoting knowledge and understanding among students. By building awareness and confidence, such initiatives play a crucial role in empowering children and should be further encouraged and expanded in the future.
