LLN Raises Awareness on Peer Violence Among Students of Shree Saraswoti Secondary School

On 3rd June, Legal Literacy Nepal (LLN) conducted a legal awareness and orientation program on peer violence for Grade 10 students at Shree Saraswoti Secondary School in Tokha Municipality. A total of 77 students participated in the session.

Facilitating the program, Om Prakash Sen Thakuri provided an overview of peer violence, explaining its different forms and the harmful effects it can have on children's physical, emotional, and educational well-being. Drawing on findings from research and surveys carried out in Nepal, he highlighted the widespread nature of bullying and other peer-related violence and discussed their consequences for students and school communities.

The session also focused on children's rights and legal safeguards against violence. Participants learned about key provisions of the Constitution of Nepal and the Act Relating to Children, 2075 (2018), which guarantee protection from abuse, neglect, and violence. Students were further informed about the legal implications and accountability measures applicable in cases involving violence against children.

The program aimed to strengthen students’ knowledge of peer violence, promote a culture of mutual respect and inclusion, and encourage children to seek support and report incidents when they occur. Through interactive discussions and question-and-answer sessions, students actively engaged in conversations on creating a safer, more supportive, and violence-free learning environment.
