LLN Conducts Peer Violence Awareness Session at Shree Boudeshwor Secondary School

On 4th June, Legal Literacy Nepal (LLN) organized a legal awareness and orientation session on peer violence for Grade 10 students of Shree Boudeshwor Secondary School in Tokha Municipality. The program was attended by 27 students.

The session was facilitated by Om Prakash Sen Thakuri, who discussed the concept of peer violence, its various forms, and its impact on children's safety, well-being, and academic performance. Referring to studies and research conducted in Nepal, he highlighted the prevalence of bullying and other forms of violence among students and explained how such behaviors can negatively affect both individuals and the overall school environment.

Students were also introduced to the legal and policy measures designed to protect children from violence. The session covered relevant provisions of the Constitution of Nepal and the Act Relating to Children, 2075 (2018), emphasizing children's rights to protection, dignity, and a safe learning environment. Participants further learned about the legal consequences of violence against children and the responsibilities of individuals and institutions in preventing such incidents.

The program sought to increase awareness of peer violence, foster respectful and positive relationships among students, and encourage reporting and help-seeking when concerns arise. Through active participation, discussions, and questions, students explored practical ways to contribute to a safer, more inclusive, and child-friendly school environment.
