Orientation Program on Corporal Punishment Organized
The Legal Literacy - Nepal organized an orientation program on "Corporal Punishment of Children and Juvenile Justice" for children from Tokha Municipality Children's Network on 30 September 2022 in the meeting hall of Ward Number-03 of Tokha Municipality. In the program altogether 30 participants representing all 11 Wards of Tokha Municipality were present.
In the program the children were oriented about their rights against corporal punishment protected by the Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC), the Constitution of Nepal, 2072 (2015), the Act Relating to Children, 2075 (2018) and Education Act, 2028 (1971). In the program, the data collected on corporal punishment from 10 districts of different provinces of Nepal was shared. The students shared their experiences and concerns on corporal punishment.
Likewise, the children were oriented on juvenile delinquency and punishment. The program was organized in coordination with Tokha Municipality and funded by DKA Austria.
