LLN Organizes Peer Violence Awareness Program at Shree Dhapasi Secondary School

On 10 June 2026, Legal Literacy Nepal (LLN) conducted a legal awareness and orientation session on peer violence for 54 Grade 9 students at Shree Dhapasi Secondary School in Tokha Municipality.

The session was facilitated by Om Prakash Sen Thakuri, who explained the meaning, causes, and different forms of peer violence, including bullying and other abusive behaviors that occur among students. Drawing on findings from research conducted in Nepal, he highlighted the prevalence of peer violence in schools and discussed its negative impact on children's emotional well-being, educational attainment, and overall development.

During the program, students were also introduced to their rights and the legal protections available to them under the Constitution of Nepal and the Act Relating to Children, 2075 (2018). The discussion emphasized the importance of ensuring a safe school environment and informed participants about available mechanisms for reporting violence and seeking support.

The awareness session sought to enhance students’ understanding of peer violence, promote mutual respect and positive behavior, and encourage students to take an active role in preventing violence within their schools. Through interactive discussions and question-and-answer sessions, participants reflected on practical ways to create a safer, more inclusive, and child-friendly learning environment.
