LLN Conducts Legal Awareness Session on Child Rights and Protection at Greenland Boarding School
Legal Literacy Nepal (LLN) conducted a legal awareness and orientation session on child rights and child protection at Greenland Boarding School. The program aimed to enhance students' understanding of their rights and promote awareness of available protection mechanisms to ensure their safety, dignity, and well-being.
A total of 85 students participated in the session, which was facilitated by Om Prakash Sen Thakuri. During the program, students were oriented on the rights of children guaranteed under the Constitution of Nepal, 2072, the Act Relating to Children, 2075, and the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC). The session highlighted children's rights to protection, education, participation, development, and non-discrimination, as well as the responsibilities of individuals and institutions in safeguarding these rights.
The program also focused on child protection issues such as violence, abuse, neglect, bullying, and exploitation. Participants were informed about the legal provisions related to crimes against children and the punishments prescribed under the Criminal Code, 2074. The discussion emphasized the importance of recognizing harmful behavior, reporting incidents, and seeking support from trusted adults and relevant authorities when children's rights are violated.
