LLN Conducts Legal Awareness Session on Child Protection for Tokha Nagar Bal Sanjal
Legal Literacy Nepal (LLN), in coordination with the Social Inclusion Department of Tokha Municipality, conducted a legal awareness session on child protection and peer violence for members of Tokha Nagar Bal Sanjal. The program aimed to strengthen the capacity of child network members to promote children's rights and prevent bullying and violence in schools.
The session was jointly facilitated by Nirmala Regmi, Child Welfare Officer of Tokha Municipality, and Advocate Om Prakash Sen Thakuri, Executive Director of Legal Literacy Nepal. A total of 21 participants, including members and advisors of Tokha Nagar Bal Sanjal, attended the orientation.
Participants were oriented on the roles and responsibilities of Tokha Nagar Bal Sanjal in promoting child rights and creating safe, child-friendly school environments. The session covered the concept and different forms of peer violence, its impacts on children, and the legal provisions relating to violence against children in Nepal. Special emphasis was placed on the role of Nagar Bal Sanjal members in supporting school-level child clubs to prevent bullying, raise awareness among students, encourage positive peer relationships, and promote a culture of respect and inclusion.
The participants were also informed about child-friendly reporting mechanisms and referral services available for children facing bullying, abuse, violence, or other protection concerns. Practical guidance was provided on how to respond safely, support affected children, and report cases to teachers, parents, local authorities, or other appropriate agencies.
The program concluded with an interactive discussion, during which participants shared ideas on strengthening child participation and expanding anti-bullying initiatives through school child clubs across Tokha Municipality.
Legal Literacy Nepal remains committed to working with local governments, schools, and child networks to promote legal literacy, child rights, and child protection, while empowering children to become active advocates for safer and more inclusive schools and communities.
